Parish Audio has launched Gain Knob, a new gain and stereo utility plugin designed to handle common signal flow tasks in recording and mixing sessions. The plugin is available in VST3 format for Windows and in VST3 and AU formats for macOS.
Gain Knob is intended to provide straightforward level control at any point in a plugin chain. It can be used to raise or lower signal levels, trim audio before feeding it into another processor, compensate for level changes introduced by effects, or match loudness between different processing paths.
The interface is built around a large central gain control, accompanied by stereo input and output meters. This layout allows users to monitor incoming levels, apply adjustments, and immediately observe the resulting output. The metering is designed to provide clear visual feedback during gain staging and level matching tasks.
In addition to the main gain control, Gain Knob includes separate trim controls for the left and right channels. These controls can operate in linked mode for standard stereo adjustments or be unlinked to allow independent balancing of each channel. This makes it possible to correct imbalances in stereo recordings or adjust the relationship between channels when required.
A Mono control is also included, enabling users to sum the stereo signal to mono. This function can be used to check mono compatibility and identify elements that may change in tone, reduce in level, or cancel when combined.
The plugin also provides a Phase Invert control, which reverses the polarity of the signal. This feature can assist when evaluating the relationship between multiple microphones, layered recordings, or parallel processing chains where phase interaction may affect the combined result.
By consolidating these functions into a single interface, Gain Knob is designed to offer a dedicated utility for everyday technical adjustments within a session. It can be inserted wherever simple level, balance, mono, or polarity checks are needed, without requiring changes elsewhere in the signal chain.
