News: Phase Fiasco has released KAZU, a creative multi-effect processor with modulation, sequencing and 50 effects.

Phase Fiasco has launched KAZU, a creative multi-effect processor combining modulation, sequencing, and a collection of 50 effects. The plugin is designed to create movement and variation within effect chains through randomisation, coordinated modulation, and performance controls.

KAZU uses an effects-rack workflow in which users can add processors from eight effect categories or load configurations through its preset manager. The available effects span reverb, tape-style echo, granular processing, spectral effects, and wavetable filtering.

The plugin’s central workflow is organised around four stages:

  • Stack: Add effects to the rack or load a preset.
  • Randomise and Animate: Generate new effect settings, then apply coordinated modulation across the rack using the Animate function.
  • Sequence: Create rhythmic on/off patterns in the sequencer or generate patterns using its randomisation controls.
  • Perform: Control parameters using an X/Y pad and four assignable macro controls.

Phase Fiasco describes Animate as a one-click function that creates modulation assignments across the loaded effects. This is intended to turn static processing chains into configurations with changing parameter movement and evolving textures.

KAZU also includes modulation sources intended for both manually shaped and automatically generated movement. These include generative sequencers, custom curves, LFOs, a pitch follower, and audio-reactive modulation. The modulation system can be used to assign movement across effects in the rack.

The built-in sequencer provides a separate means of structuring effects over time, allowing users to draw activation patterns for individual effects. Random pattern generation is also included for creating alternative rhythmic configurations.

KAZU is available for $29 from the Phase Fiasco website.
