Plugin Alliance and THX have collaborated to launch THX Spatial Creator, a spatial audio plugin compatible with both Windows and Mac. This innovative tool allows users to create headphone-optimized spatial audio mixes, add spatial audio elements to stereo mixes, develop fully immersive audio mixes, and ensure universal streaming service compatibility.
The THX Spatial Creator plugin enables users to binauralize elements in their mix, positioning them within a three-dimensional immersive audio space. This technique, referred to as THX Spatial Audio, creates an illusion of sounds coming from all directions when using headphones. The plugin employs a “neutral” head-related transfer function (HRTF) designed by THX, aiming to deliver an optimal immersive audio experience to a broad range of listeners.
Users can add spatial audio elements to their stereo mixes using THX Spatial Creator. For instance, instead of automating the pan position of hi-hats from left to right, users can make them swirl around a listener’s head. The plugin can be applied to specific tracks to transform them into spatial audio elements, leaving the rest of the stereo mix unaffected.
THX Spatial Creator also facilitates the creation of fully immersive audio mixes. By applying the plugin to every track in a session, each element can be positioned within an immersive space. This mixing approach can simulate specific environments, such as a live concert crowd or an orchestra pit, enhancing the listener’s experience.
The plugin uses various techniques to create an immersive audio experience, including a high-quality 360-degree reverb. This feature surrounds the listener, providing a more authentic sense of space than traditional stereo reverbs, thereby enhancing the depth and realism of audio mixes. THX Spatial Creator can be added to an aux track and used as a global reverb to add an extra level of dimension.
THX Spatial Creator ensures compatibility with all major streaming services by encoding spatial audio elements into a stereo file. This feature allows users to bypass format restrictions and make their immersive audio mixes accessible on any streaming service, maximizing the discoverability of their music.
The plugin can also enhance dialog and sound effects in podcasts or YouTube videos, making them more engaging and less fatiguing for listeners. This can potentially increase the amount of time people spend consuming your content. Utilizing spatial audio can differentiate creators, offering a unique experience that can convert first-time listeners into loyal fans.
THX Spatial Creator allows users to create spatial audio mixes that can be experienced with regular headphones. Unlike many existing spatial audio systems that require expensive proprietary hardware, THX Spatial Creator ensures that spatial audio mixes play through all stereo systems, delivering an enhanced spatial audio experience to headphone listeners.
THX Spatial Creator integrates seamlessly with existing workflows. It can be inserted into any audio or MIDI track in a digital audio workstation, eliminating the need for cumbersome spatial audio systems that require a new mixing workflow.
For a limited time, the plugin is available at a 23% discount. Additionally, owners of Brainworx bx_rooMS, Dear Reality dearVR PRO, Fiedler audio stage, or Unfiltered Audio SILO can benefit from a special license offer of $89.99, which is 53% off the regular price.
