Pontaku Audio Launches Chronoform Varispeed Sound Design Plugin.

News: Pontaku Audio Launches Chronoform Varispeed Sound Design Plugin.

Pontaku Audio has launched Chronoform version 1.4.1, updating its Chronoform varispeed sound design plugin with automation, interface, and workflow changes. The update follows version 1.4 and is available as a free update for existing Chronoform users.

Chronoform is designed to alter playback speed, pitch, and duration together. For example, reducing the playback rate slows an audio signal while lowering its pitch and extending its duration, following the behaviour of varispeed playback.

The Play Rate control operates in real time from 0.25× to 1.0× and can also be automated within a DAW. In the VST3 and CLAP versions, version 1.4 adds sample-accurate automation for Play Rate, allowing automation changes to be applied at the sample level.

Version 1.4 also introduces Step Time, alongside a redesigned graphical interface and reorganised parameters intended to make the available controls easier to access. The subsequent 1.4.1 update further reduces CPU load and memory use, adds Light and Dark interface themes, and includes additional workflow and stability updates.

Chronoform includes the following functions:

  • Real-time varispeed processing
  • Auto buffer clear
  • Interpolation character control
  • Sample-accurate automation
  • Step Time control

The plugin supports sample rates up to 192 kHz and sessions with up to 128 channels. It is compatible with 64-bit Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 11, as well as macOS 10.14 Mojave or later on Intel and Apple Silicon systems.

Chronoform is provided in AU, VST3, CLAP, and AAX formats, with AAX available for macOS only. Pontaku Audio has also published a video, Turn Everyday Objects into Sound Effects | Chronoform, demonstrating the plugin with recordings of everyday objects.

Chronoform v1.4.1 is a free update for existing users. Pontaku Audio is offering 30% off Chronoform until September 29. A trial version is available with the same features as the full version, although its output is temporarily muted every 45 seconds.
