prod. Shane, a K-pop producer based in Korea, has released four free one-knob effect plugins in the Shane Is series: Shane Is Dead, Shane Is In Love, Shane Is Sad, and Shane Is Sleepy. Each plugin centres on a single control and a specific sound-processing concept, with a pixel-art ghost interface that changes in response to the effect.
The four releases extend the Shane Is collection, which also includes Shane Is Angry and Shane Is Drunk. The plugins are designed around streamlined operation, with one main parameter per effect and no menu-based controls.
Shane Is Dead uses a control labelled DECAY. According to prod. Shane, the effect reduces top-end content and sustain, with the interface ghost shown with X-shaped eyes and breaking into pixels as the processing is applied.
Shane Is In Love uses a LOVE control to create a softer, warmer, and less sharply focused sound. Its interface uses a heart-eyed version of the pixel-art ghost.
Shane Is Sad provides a SADNESS control. The effect is designed to introduce pitch sag, reduce high-frequency content, and create a heavier overall response. The accompanying ghost graphic droops and cries.
Shane Is Sleepy is built around a SLEEP control, intended to slow and blur the processed signal. The plugin’s ghost graphic appears with closed eyes.
All four plugins are available for macOS and Windows. macOS versions support AU, VST3, and AAX formats, with Universal builds for Intel and Apple Silicon systems. The macOS installers are Developer ID signed and notarised. Windows versions are supplied in 64-bit VST3 and AAX formats, while the AAX builds are PACE-signed for use with Pro Tools.
Shane Is Dead, Shane Is In Love, Shane Is Sad, and Shane Is Sleepy are available as free pay-what-you-want downloads, with a minimum price of $0.
