ProjectSAM has launched version 1.1 of Lineage Strings, its Kontakt Player library for string ensemble writing. The update is available at no additional cost to existing Lineage Strings users and introduces changes to legato behaviour and articulation detection.
Lineage Strings is based on recordings of a 35-player string ensemble made at the Broadcasting Music Center in Hilversum, the Netherlands. The library is designed for composers creating string arrangements, with tools intended to support connected melodic lines, articulation selection, and ensemble arranging.
Version 1.1 includes improved legato and enhanced articulation detection. ProjectSAM has not detailed further individual changes within these areas, but the update is provided free to current owners.
The library provides up to 13 articulations for each string section and has an installed library size of 151 GB. Its performance and arrangement features include:
- Smart Lookahead
- Adaptive Phrasing
- Intelligent Arranging and The Arranger
- Polyphonic Legato
- Precision Control and automatic vibrato
- Full bowing control
- Accessibility options
Lineage Strings supports both the NKS1 and NKS2 standards. This provides access to essential library functions and parameters from compatible NKS hardware, including Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol controllers.
ProjectSAM has also stated that a Free Edition of Lineage Strings is in development.
Lineage Strings is currently offered with a 15% introductory discount, reducing the price from €349.00 to €296.64 including VAT. ProjectSAM states that the introductory discount ends on Thursday, July 9. From July 9, registered owners of Lineage Percussion will receive a €50/$50 discount on Lineage Strings. The promotional information is listed with an expiry date of September 14.
