Quiet Music has launched MotionTones, a generative instrument available as both a plugin and a standalone application for Windows and macOS. The new instrument is designed to create evolving, motion-based tonal material through generative processes.
MotionTones is positioned as a generative sound tool that focuses on continuous tonal movement rather than traditional note-by-note sequencing. It operates as both a DAW-integrated plugin and an independent standalone application, allowing users to incorporate it into existing production environments or use it separately for sound exploration and performance.
According to the developer, MotionTones is built around the concept of generating evolving textures and harmonic motion. Rather than relying on fixed MIDI programming, the instrument produces dynamically shifting tones that can be shaped and influenced by the user. This approach is intended to support ambient composition, sound design, film scoring, and other contexts where gradual tonal development and atmospheric material are required.
As a plugin, MotionTones integrates into compatible host applications on Windows and macOS systems. The standalone version provides the same core functionality without requiring a DAW, which may suit live setups or independent sound design workflows.
The instrument is designed to:
- Generate evolving tonal material using generative processes
- Produce motion-based harmonic textures
- Operate both as a DAW plugin and as a standalone application
MotionTones is intended for users interested in generative composition techniques, ambient sound creation, and exploratory sonic environments. Its design scope centres on continuous tonal development and automated movement, with user control over the shaping of the resulting material.
The release is available for both Windows and macOS platforms.
MotionTones is currently available with a 48% introductory discount. The promotional offer is valid until July 23rd.
