Raising Jake Studios has recently launched SubMassive, a sub-harmonic generator plugin compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems. The innovative concept behind SubMassive is the ability to generate low frequencies that are not present in the original source material, operating on the principle that “you can’t EQ what isn’t there”.
SubMassive operates by synthesizing low-frequency audio an octave below the source audio. This is achieved using a high-quality pitch shift algorithm that has been specifically optimized for low frequencies. The plugin utilizes audio information above the “Fill Below” threshold to generate audio information below the same threshold, thereby adding “weight” to the source signal.
The newly generated low frequencies are harmonically related to the source audio and are tightly coupled in transient accuracy. The generated Low-Frequency Effects (LFE) signal can be further adjusted to lead or lag the source signal, allowing for unique sound modifications.
SubMassive can be utilized in a variety of ways, including:
- Creating super-huge low end in Electronic Dance Music (EDM) mixes
- Adding “mass” to kick drums, snare drums, and toms
- Fattening lead vocals, bass, and guitars
- Generating an LFE channel for post-production video
- Modifying sounds using low-end time shift effects
It is important to note that the Mac version of this plugin requires a system that supports Metal graphics and may not function on older machines. Potential users are advised to try the plugin before making a purchase. As an introductory offer, SubMassive is currently available at a 37% discount until February 4th.
