Reflex Acoustics has launched Spectrum Analyzer, a complimentary monitoring plugin compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. The Reflex Spectrum Analyzer stands out with its unique features, including stereo comparison, display tilt and smoothing, and an exceptional ability to provide detailed bass information.
The Spectrum Analyzer plugin utilizes four 512-element FFT analyses in a multiband configuration, each with distinct sample rates. This configuration optimizes the distribution of the resulting 1,024 frequency bins across the audible range. The design achieves a low-end bin spacing of just 0.7Hz, which allows for a responsive and granular representation of bass information. The combined frequency amplitude spectrum is displayed on a semitone log scale, covering 11 octaves from 10Hz to 20kHz.
The Reflex Spectrum Analyzer is equipped with a variety of features. These include 132 log-spaced frequency bands with semitone spacing from 10Hz to 20kHz, a 90dB range, and adjustable smoothing across frequency and time. It also offers Left-Right and Mide-Side stereo modes, a short-term (i.e. 3-second) LUFS display, and adjustable spectrum tilt. Peak frequencies are displayed on a chromatic scale, and the GUI size is adjustable. Users also have the ability to audition specific frequencies by clicking or dragging over the spectrum display.
The plugin is available in VST3 format for PC, and VST3 & AU formats for Mac. It requires a compatible Digital Audio Workstation or other plugin host and supports common sample rates from 44.1 to 384kHz. Reflex Acoustics has also announced that AAX support will be available in the near future.
