reitzwerk has launched CreakBox V2, a 64-bit VST3 instrument for Windows. Developed by Frank Reitz under the reitzwerk name, the instrument combines acid-oriented bass synthesis, drum programming, sequencing, distortion and effects within a single plugin.
CreakBox V2 follows the original CreakBox, which was first released in 2003. The new version rebuilds and expands the original concept for current Windows-based music production environments.
The instrument is designed around acid basslines, electronic drums and experimental sound design. Rather than replicating one specific vintage unit, CreakBox V2 draws on analogue acid production workflows while providing its own combination of synthesis, sequencing and processing tools.
Its bass section includes multiple resonant filter models and an integrated pattern sequencer. Sequencer steps can be programmed individually with controls for note, gate, slide, accent and attack. This arrangement supports both acid-style patterns and rhythmically detailed programmed sequences.
CreakBox V2 also incorporates an analogue-style drum machine, allowing bass and percussion patterns to be created and adjusted within the same instrument interface.
For further sound processing, the plugin provides several analogue-modelled distortion circuits, alongside tape saturation, soft clipping and tape echo. A dedicated Circuit Bend section is included for creating less stable and more heavily processed sound variations.
