Reyes Amps has updated TRIODE, its component-modelled guitar amplifier plugin based on the 1959 Harmony H303 circuit. Version 2.0.2 adds reverb, tremolo and a treble boost to the existing amp model, cabinet impulse response loading and visual monitoring tools.
TRIODE models a 1959 Harmony H303 amplifier using the circuit of the original hardware as its basis. The amp section uses a 12SQ7 triode preamp feeding a 50L6 pentode output stage in a single-ended Class A configuration. These tube types were also commonly used in 1950s radio equipment.
The plugin provides up to 40 dB of clean gain into the triode stage, covering lower-gain and saturated amplifier settings. Reyes Amps states that TRIODE is intended for guitar processing, while it can also be used with bass and synthesizer sources.
The update introduces the following effects and tonal control:
- Atmospheric reverb designed for long, dark decay tails.
- Analogue opto-style tremolo with built-in micro variations.
- A Treble Boost control that adds emphasis around 2 kHz.
TRIODE includes an IR loader supplied with a model of a 1959 Jensen Alnico 6-inch speaker, corresponding to the speaker fitted in the original amplifier. The plugin also provides 4x oversampling, alongside an oscilloscope and spectral viewer.
The effects, amplifier and cabinet processing can be bypassed independently. This allows the reverb to be used without the amp section, or the oscilloscope and spectral display to remain available while the processing stages are bypassed.
Reyes Amps also offers two free plugins: REYES 303, which provides the version 1 amp model without the effects or IR loader, and Kill Filter, a DJ-style high-pass and low-pass filter plugin.
TRIODE v2.0.2 is available for $9.99 in VST3 and AU formats for Windows and macOS from Reyes-Amps.com and MuseHub.
