Safari Audio has launched PolyRex, a vintage-inspired polyphonic synthesizer plugin for Windows and Mac. Designed as the company’s interpretation of early 1980s analog polysynths, PolyRex combines classic architecture with modern plugin functionality.
PolyRex is built around an eight-voice polyphonic engine and focuses on recreating the character and workflow associated with vintage analog instruments. According to Safari Audio, the instrument is intended to deliver analog-style warmth, rich polyphony, and an intuitive interface suited to contemporary production environments.
The synthesizer features discrete VCOs and VCFs, forming the foundation of its sound generation and filtering stages. Its architecture includes a vintage-inspired oscillator section, filter, high-pass filter, and envelope controls, along with dedicated performance and movement parameters designed to support expressive sound design.
Key features include:
- 8-voice polyphony
- Discrete VCO and VCF design
- Advanced modulation matrix
- Built-in “Safari” FX engine
The modulation matrix enables users to route multiple modulation sources to various destinations, supporting detailed control over evolving textures and dynamic patches. The integrated Safari FX engine provides onboard effects processing, allowing users to shape and finalize sounds directly within the instrument.
PolyRex is available as an instant download and includes a perpetual license. After purchase, users receive a serial number via email to activate the plugin inside their DAW. Activation does not require an internet connection.
The plugin supports AU, VST3, and AAX formats on macOS, and VST3 and AAX formats on 64-bit Windows systems. It is compatible with all major DAWs.
System requirements are as follows:
- macOS 10.15 or higher (VST3, AU, AAX)
- Windows 10 or higher, 64-bit (VST3, AAX)
- Minimum 8 GB RAM, 16 GB recommended
PolyRex is also included in Safari Audio’s Everything Bundle for users seeking access to the company’s broader catalog of plugins.
PolyRex is priced at $39.99. An introductory offer of 49% off is available until July 31st.
