Sampleson has launched Aeronaut, a new audio plugin designed to transform any incoming audio signal into evolving cinematic soundscapes. The plugin processes live input in real time, generating textures and atmospheres based on the source material.
Aeronaut is built around spectral processing techniques that analyze incoming audio and continuously reconstruct it to create layered, evolving textures. According to Sampleson, the plugin is intended to turn simple sound sources such as a single guitar note, chord, or vocal phrase into cinematic pads, drones, and atmospheric elements that respond dynamically to performance.
The workflow is designed to be straightforward. Users insert Aeronaut as an effect on any audio or instrument track, play a sound source, and shape the result using a small set of primary controls. The main parameters include:
- Spaceshipness, which adjusts the intensity and character of the transformation
- Decay, which controls how long the generated textures persist
This structure allows users to layer additional performances on top of processed material, building more complex textures directly from live input rather than relying on pre-recorded sample libraries.
Aeronaut operates with two parallel processing paths. The first is a live spectral engine that continuously reacts to incoming audio in real time. The second is an integrated 10-second looper that can be independently frozen and layered. These two paths can be combined to create evolving atmospheres from short performances or sustained passages.
The plugin also includes an Eternize function, which allows users to lock a spectral snapshot of the current audio state. This makes it possible to capture a moment of the processed signal and build additional layers over it, gradually constructing denser soundscapes from minimal source material.
Sampleson positions Aeronaut as suitable for both studio production and live performance contexts. In studio settings, it can be used to generate scoring beds, ambient layers, transitions, and underscore elements directly from material already present in a session. For performers, the plugin enables real-time creation of evolving textures from instruments such as guitars, keyboards, and vocals, with continuous layering and low-latency processing.
Aeronaut is available in plugin format and is designed to function as an insert effect on audio or instrument tracks.
Aeronaut is available at an introductory price of $29, with a regular price of $49. Further information, including audio demonstrations, is available from Sampleson.
