ShamROCK Audio releases FITZ PHONE, a free telephone/megaphone/AM-radio character plugin for macOS.

News: ShamROCK Audio releases FITZ PHONE, a free telephone/megaphone/AM-radio character plugin for macOS.

ShamROCK Audio has launched FITZ PHONE, a character effect plugin for macOS. The plugin is designed to apply telephone, megaphone, and AM-radio-style band-limiting and distortion treatments to audio sources.

FITZ PHONE provides three voicings based on different communication and broadcast-style signal paths. The Telephone mode uses a 300 Hz to 3.4 kHz POTS-style band limit, while the Megaphone mode provides a narrow, resonant midrange band intended to be driven with the plugin’s Drive control.

The AM Radio voicing uses a wider band range and includes tremolo and adjustable static. The interface also includes Drive, Tone, Static, Mix, and Output controls for adjusting the processed signal and its balance with the original audio.

  • Telephone: 300 Hz to 3.4 kHz POTS-style telephone band-limiting.
  • Megaphone: Narrow, resonant midrange voicing with drive processing.
  • AM Radio: Wider-band radio treatment with tremolo and adjustable static.

The plugin operates with 4x oversampling and reports its group delay to the host DAW for compensation. FITZ PHONE is supplied as a Universal binary for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.

Supported formats are VST3, AU, and AAX. System requirements are macOS 10.15 or later for Intel systems, and macOS 11.0 or later for Apple Silicon systems. ShamROCK Audio states that Windows versions are planned for a future release.

FITZ PHONE is available free of charge as the full plugin, rather than as a demo or trial. The perpetual licence includes three transferable seats, offline activation, and lifetime updates. Downloads are provided through a $0.00 store checkout, where an email address is collected to send the licence key and download link.
