Silence+Other Sounds has launched Nordic Folk Strings Tagelharpa library for Kontakt (full version). This unique library is based on the tagelharpa, a traditional three-stringed instrument from Scandinavia, and is a collaborative project with singer and tagelharpa expert Alessandra Cognetta (Omen, Hellen).
Nordic Folk Strings features two models of tagelharpa: the Bass Tagelharpa and the Standard Tagelharpa. The Bass Tagelharpa offers a darker, lower sound, while the Standard Tagelharpa produces a tone reminiscent of the Viking era. Both models have been sampled at different time ranges, with a variety of rhythms (straight and triplets), tunings, and tones.
In a departure from the norm, the Nordic Folk Strings library does not focus on sampling long sustained notes. Instead, it has sampled rhythmic movements, aiming to preserve the raw authenticity of the tagelharpa. These movement loops are tempo synched to the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and can be creatively combined using the custom scripted Rhythmic Legato and the innovative Movements Sequencer.
The Nordic Folk Strings library provides an ultra-realistic rendition of the tagelharpa, offering both performance and writing flexibility. It can be used for traditional epic music, but also has the capacity to be pushed to write articulated and complex parts. Users can also experiment with the timbre by using the Tone Selector, which offers both Clean and Gnarly tones.
This library is ideal for composers and music producers seeking the iconic strings sound of traditional Nordic music. The sounds produced by the Nordic Folk Strings library evoke images of vast frozen lands from the Viking age and scenes of ancient battlefields, adding a unique touch to any composition.
Nordic Folk Strings library is currently available at a 40% discount, valid until May 10th.
