Snorkel Audio has launched version 1.1 of Snorkel, its generative synthesizer plugin for Windows and macOS. The update introduces a new Melody Generation Engine, expanding the plugin’s tools for creating melodic material from chord progressions.
Snorkel is designed as a generative instrument for developing musical ideas through editable patterns, chords, arpeggios, melodies, synthesis and sequencing. According to Snorkel Audio, the software provides parameter randomisation while allowing users to adjust each generated result manually.
The new Melody Generation Engine creates a single melodic line over a song’s chords. It joins the plugin’s existing Chords module, which generates chord material and includes a built-in gater effect, as well as a grid-based 16-step Patterns sequencer.
Snorkel’s feature set also includes the following modules:
- An arpeggiator with adjustable controls for generating arpeggiated parts.
- A Step Modulator for creating parameter modulation.
- A synthesizer section with three oscillators, a noise source, dual filters, effects, EQ, four LFOs and envelopes.
- A sequencer for combining generated and programmed elements into a complete musical arrangement.
The plugin is available for Windows, macOS and iPad. Snorkel Audio states that user feedback is welcome as development of the product continues.
Snorkel is currently available for €29 as part of a 50% introductory discount. The offer is listed as expiring on September 13.
