Softube has launched Bus Processor 670, a tube compressor plugin for macOS and Windows inspired by the classic dual-channel variable-mu hardware design. The new release is available as a native plugin and integrates with Softube’s Flow Studio and Console 1 Mixing System.
Bus Processor 670 is described as a modern interpretation of the well-known 670 compressor topology. According to Softube, the development process focused on identifying and capturing the defining characteristics of the original hardware design, while adapting it to contemporary production workflows.
The plugin is intended for use on mix and master buses, as well as subgroup processing. It aims to deliver the tonal weight, warmth, and dynamic control associated with variable-mu compression. In addition to modeling the core compression behavior, Softube has incorporated extended functionality designed to support modern mixing requirements.
Key features include:
- Dual-channel variable-mu style compression
- Additional saturation control
- Spatialization features
- Sidechain functionality for expanded routing options
Bus Processor 670 can be used as a standalone native plugin in compatible digital audio workstations supporting AU, VST, VST3, or AAX formats. It also integrates with Softube’s Flow Studio and Console 1 Mixing System, and is included in the Flow Mixing Suite, Flow Mastering Suite, and Flow Complete Suite.
The plugin is compatible with macOS Sonoma 14, Sequoia 15, and Tahoe 26, as well as Windows 10 (64-bit) and Windows 11. Installation requires a Softube account and an iLok account. Users must have a compatible DAW host and internet access for downloading installers and managing licenses.
Bus Processor 670 is currently available for USD 99.00, reduced from USD 149.00, with the introductory pricing valid until June 26th. The purchase includes a 20-day trial, a 14-day return policy, technical support, and three activations.
