Sonora Cinematic, known for their existing Kontakt instruments such as Harmonic Bloom and Poiesis Cello, has unveiled their latest creation, Aria Vocalscapes. This innovative tool is designed to inspire and empower musicians and sound designers with a range of ambient, cinematic, and experimental vocals performed by classically trained soprano Emma May Price.
Aria Vocalscapes provides an easy-to-use Kontakt Player instrument that allows users to add beautiful vocal textures, atmospheres, or pads to their productions. The soundscape possibilities are vast, allowing users to effortlessly evoke a myriad of emotions. From haunting tension, trepidation, and anticipation to ethereal melodies that captivate with their beauty and grace, the tool offers a wide range of expressive options.
At the heart of Aria Vocalscapes is the new bespoke Aria engine. This powerful platform is filled with modulation possibilities, expressive effects, and the ability to manipulate even your own samples with ease. The sleek and intuitive interface allows users to effortlessly browse through a diverse range of articulations – from traditional “Aah” and “Mmh” to heavily processed vocals. Users can select one for each of the two available slots and create ever-evolving vocal-based soundscapes using the intuitive integrated XY pad.
The Aria Vocalscapes tool allows users to layer or crossfade articulations, add independent filters, and assign any parameter to be controlled by either the X or Y axis. The creative options continue with additional depth provided by two step sequencers for the filters and per-layer LFOs. These features allow users to infuse rhythmic movement and modulation into their compositions. Three effects slots and an impressive FX panel, which adjusts according to the selected effect, provide further opportunities for sound experimentation and fine-tuning.
In addition to the provided samples, users can also import their own samples to expand the realm of creative possibilities. Sonora Cinematic Founder, Alessandro Mastroianni, shared his thoughts on the release, stating, “I kept asking Emma to come in the studio and record all these textural sounds and sparse vocal passages on my tracks… until I decided to plan an instrument with her that would allow me to use these colours in an easy and flexible way. The result is Aria Vocalscapes: I hope it empowers users to craft beautiful vocal-based soundscapes and use them as the great story-telling tool they are in ambient and cinematic music.“
Aria Vocalscapes is compatible with the free Kontakt Player v7.7+.
Aria Vocalscapes is available now from sonoracinematic.com for the introductory price of £39 / $49 until 31st March 2024, after which it will revert to the normal price of £59 / $74 (all prices ex. tax).
