Sonora Cinematic has launched Emma Legato, a new vocal library that offers a true legato experience with multiple articulations and an innovative legato speed control feature. This release also introduces the Sonora Cinematic Select series, a budget-friendly line of Kontakt Player libraries.
Emma Legato was developed in response to customer demand for a true legato vocal library, providing a powerful and user-friendly tool for crafting rich vocal textures and realistic melodic lines in cinematic or ambient compositions. The library features three articulations: Humming, Poco Vibrato, and Aahs. These articulations highlight the exceptional talent of classically-trained soprano Emma May Price, whose voice is also featured in Sonora Cinematic’s Aria Vocalscapes instrument.
The true legato sampling technique employed in Emma Legato captures not only individual notes but also the transitions between them, resulting in highly realistic and emotive performances. This technique involves a vast number of samples, ensuring that the transitions between notes are smooth and natural.
Emma Legato’s SPEED control enhances this realism by allowing users to adjust the transition speed to match their playing style or piano roll programming. Users can manually set the SPEED parameter or use the AUTO mode, which intelligently adapts the transition speed based on the interval between notes. This feature ensures that transitions feel natural and expressive, whether performing fast passages or slow, emotional lines. A keyswitch is available to toggle the AUTO mode on and off, enabling on-the-fly adjustments during specific passages if needed.
Additionally, Emma Legato includes curated snapshots for quick sound customization, along with two cinematic reverb options. The BLUE reverb offers a shimmery, diffused ambience with an expansive tail, while the PINK reverb provides a slowly modulated effect with granular-like processing for a rich, textured soundscape.
New Sonora Cinematic Select Series
The release of Emma Legato also marks the debut of the Sonora Cinematic Select series. This new line of Kontakt Player libraries is designed to be affordable, easy to use, and sonically impressive. More titles are anticipated to join the series throughout 2025.
