SoundRave has launched ThermVoltGe, a germanium overdrive plugin for macOS and Windows. The analog modeling effect, designed for guitar and bass applications, is currently available as a free download.
ThermVoltGe is a distortion and saturation plugin that models classic germanium-based overdrive circuits. According to SoundRave, the plugin recreates the compressed and harmonically rich characteristics associated with vintage germanium diode designs, including component-level behaviors such as voltage fluctuation and temperature drift.
The modeling is based on the developer’s Patina DSP approach, which aims to capture the nuanced response of analog circuitry. ThermVoltGe includes simulations of germanium diode clipping, battery sag, and supply voltage variation, reflecting the operational characteristics of hardware units that rely on germanium components.

ThermVoltGe was reactivated for download on May 26, 2026 at 11:50 AM JST. SoundRave has also addressed a licensing issue that affected users who downloaded the plugin via Gumroad on or after May 4, 2026. The issue prevented proper authentication due to an incorrect license file. The developer has resolved the matter on the server side and issued corrected license files to all affected Gumroad customers.
ThermVoltGe is available in AU and VST3 formats for macOS, supporting both Intel and Apple Silicon systems. On Windows, it is provided in VST3 format and supports Windows 10 and 11. The plugin can be obtained via Payhip and Gumroad.
ThermVoltGe was previously priced at $19.99 and is now available as a free download. Users can access the free version using the code: OGRQVP1USL. The expiry date of the offer has not been specified.
