The creative force behind the Artefakt Guitar is Nico Maas, a film composer, music producer, and guitarist based in Cologne and Amsterdam. Maas has composed music for numerous films, many of which have received national and international accolades, including the Best Original Score at the Bucharest Shortcut Cinefest in 2021. He is active in several ensembles, writing and performing across genres such as pop, rock, jazz, country, and singer-songwriter, and has toured extensively in Europe and Australia. Maas holds a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Guitar from the Amsterdam School of the Arts and a master’s degree in Composition for Film from their collaborative program with the Netherlands Film Academy.
