String Audio has launched PULSESTRIKE, a new cinematic instrument for Native Instruments Kontakt designed for modern sci-fi, thriller, horror, drama, and action scoring. The library focuses on driving pulse-based performances and evolving rhythmic textures intended to deliver momentum and tension in contemporary screen compositions.
PULSESTRIKE is built around layered cinematic grooves, synth pulses, and dark modern textures. Rather than presenting isolated loops, the instrument combines multiple sound sources into cohesive performances designed to provide immediate musical movement when a preset is loaded. According to the developer, these layered motion beds can serve as the foundation of a cue, offering a starting point for further development within a production.
The library includes over 1 GB of original uncompressed sample content, supplied as 541 MB of data compressed using Native Instruments’ lossless NCW format. The core content consists of 152 unique pulse performances created specifically for modern cinematic scoring contexts. In addition, the instrument provides 191 professionally designed presets, referred to as Snapshots, which are ready to use within Kontakt.
At the centre of PULSESTRIKE is String Audio’s 4-Layer XY Engine. This system enables users to blend and morph between four independent pulse sources in real time using XY control. The engine also allows composers to record and play back their own XY movements, enabling evolving rhythmic performances that can be tailored to a specific composition.
Key features include:
- Over 1 GB of original uncompressed sample content (541 MB NCW compressed)
- 152 unique pulse performances
- 191 ready-to-use Snapshots
- 4-Layer XY Engine for real-time blending and morphing
- Recordable XY movement for custom rhythmic evolution
- Advanced Randomize Engine for generating new pulse combinations
- Deep editing capabilities for custom preset creation
The integrated Randomize Engine is designed to generate new pulse variations with a single action, offering additional combinations derived from the existing material. For users who prefer detailed control, PULSESTRIKE also provides deeper editing functions, allowing adjustment of individual layers and the creation of personalised presets.
The sound design centres on dark synth textures, cinematic grooves, and evolving rhythmic motion. These elements are intended for use in suspense-driven scenes, psychological thrillers, science fiction narratives, dramatic scoring, and action sequences. The workflow is structured to provide immediate access to layered pulse performances while also supporting more detailed customisation when required.
PULSESTRIKE requires the full version of Kontakt 6.8 or above. It is not compatible with the free Kontakt Player.
PULSESTRIKE is available for $139, with an introductory price of $99 via the String Audio website.
