Sync Audio has launched MegaMorph, a plug-in host designed to combine third-party instruments and effects into configurable meta-instruments. Available in Instrument, FX and Warp versions, MegaMorph uses multi-segment envelope generators to modulate plug-in parameters and create rhythmic or evolving parameter movement.
MegaMorph is based on the modulation approach used in Sync Audio’s MegaMod, expanding it with an instrument and effects hosting environment. Users can load compatible third-party plug-ins, connect modulation envelopes to available parameters, and organise multiple sound sources and processors within a single setup.
In its Instrument configuration, MegaMorph combines multiple instrument plug-ins and effects into what Sync Audio calls a Meta-Instrument. Individual hosted instruments can use several envelope layers, allowing parameter movements and patterns to be arranged independently across the setup. The software also includes a random-generation function for creating new Meta-Instrument configurations.
The FX version is designed for processing incoming audio. It routes the signal through three parallel effects racks, with envelope modulation available for parameters in the hosted third-party effects. This configuration can be used for modulation-based processing chains, including parameter changes across filters, EQs, distortion effects and other compatible processors.
MegaMorph Warp focuses on audio clip manipulation with built-in processing for varispeed, time expansion and compression, pitch shifting, and volume. Its envelopes can shape these processes over time, while users can alter the processing order of the available effects.
Sync Audio states that Warp is intended in part for film and game sound design workflows. Audio clips can be dragged from a DAW timeline into Warp, processed and rendered, then returned to the timeline. Rendering takes place in the background while the user continues working.
The release also includes an AudioSuite version for Pro Tools. This allows post-production users to render envelope-driven movement from hosted third-party plug-ins directly into audio clips, rather than retaining the movement as track-based automation.
- Formats: VST3, AU and AAX
