Techivation has launched M-Compressor 2, a spectral dynamics plug-in for macOS and Windows. The new version expands on the company’s approach to frequency-dependent processing by combining multiple dynamics tools within a single spectral framework.
M-Compressor 2 brings together downward compression, upward compression, gating, and frequency-dependent processing in one interface. Rather than dividing the signal into fixed crossover bands like a conventional multiband compressor, the plug-in processes audio spectrally across the frequency spectrum. This approach is designed to allow continuous and detailed control over dynamics without predefined band boundaries.
The plug-in includes Shelves and Tilt modes, which adjust how strongly different frequency regions are affected by processing. These modes provide broad tonal shaping options by influencing the balance of dynamic control across low, mid, and high frequencies. A Shaping control further modifies the spectral response in real time, adapting continuously according to the incoming signal.
Techivation has also introduced an updated version of its Mix Assistant within M-Compressor 2. After analysing the incoming audio material, the assistant generates 12 distinct processing styles. Users can select four of these styles and blend between them using an XY control interface. All parameters created by the assistant remain visible and accessible, allowing manual editing and further refinement if required.

The plug-in is available for macOS and Windows. A fully functional 14-day trial version can be downloaded from the Techivation website.
M-Compressor 2 is available from Techivation’s website for an introductory price of $55 until July 20, 2026. The regular price will be $149. Owners of other premium Techivation plug-ins can purchase M-Compressor 2 for $45. M-Compressor 1 users can upgrade for $35. The plug-in is included at no additional cost for Techivation Full Access users.
