Techivation has launched T-De-Breather, a breath suppression plug-in for vocal and dialogue processing. The new T-Series plug-in is designed to automate breath level adjustment while providing controls for its detection process.
T-De-Breather is intended for live performance, recording, and post-production workflows. Techivation states that its hybrid audio engine combines algorithmic audio analysis with real-time predictive forecasting based on a Recurrent Neural Network, enabling zero-latency operation.
The plug-in identifies breaths through spectral and time-domain characteristics rather than input level. According to Techivation, this level-independent detection approach is designed to recognise breaths across a range of loud and quiet vocal passages.
T-De-Breather also addresses the relationship between breaths and sibilance. As these elements can share similar characteristics in a recording, the plug-in detects both and provides controls for adjusting the balance between breath suppression and sibilance reduction.
Its interface includes a waveform display and detection meter for monitoring detected material, alongside parameters for setting the processing behaviour. Available controls include:
- Breath Gain and Breath Target
- Detection Balance and Breath Boundary
- Sensitivity and Speed
- Sibilance and Mix controls
- Diff, Output Gain, waveform display, and detection meter
These controls are intended to let users define which breath events are detected and how strongly they are adjusted, with separate management of sibilance where required.
T-De-Breather is available from Techivation at an introductory price of $45 USD. The regular price will be $90 USD after September 5, 2026. Owners of Techivation premium plug-ins can purchase T-De-Breather for $35 USD, while Techivation Full Access users receive the plug-in at no additional cost. A fully functional 14-day trial is also available from the Techivation website.
