Tempest Instruments has Launched Sona/Chroma instrument blending library for Kontakt Player. This innovative product is designed to offer creators a new realm of sonic possibilities, allowing the seamless fusion of 16 orchestral instruments and their groups to produce an endless array of unique timbres.
Sona/Chroma stands out due to its unique blend of sound and color. Each instrument’s tonal character is associated with a specific color, enabling users to visualize their music as they create it. Woodwinds are represented by shades of blue and green, brass resonates with hues of yellow and orange, while strings transition from red to purple. As the instruments blend, their colors dynamically mix, resulting in unique visual and auditory experiences.

Sona/Chroma also offers a “No Grid Mode” for sound experiments. As a Kontakt Player instrument, it can be used without the need to own the full version of NI Kontakt. It functions as a plug-in instrument in any VST, AU, RTAS, AAX, or WASAPI-compatible host program or DAW, such as Cubase, Logic, Ableton Live, Digital Performer, Reaper, or Pro Tools.
The product supports integration with Komplete Kontrol software and hardware, including S-Series keyboards and Maschine. Sona/Chroma appears in the Native Browser alongside other NKS instruments, with Native Map enabling direct parameter control via connected hardware.
The system requirements for Sona/Chroma are macOS 12, 13, and 14 (latest update), Windows 10 or 11 (latest Service Pack), Intel Core i5 or equivalent CPU, or Apple Silicon, 4 GB RAM (6 GB recommended), Graphics hardware support for Direct 3D 11.1 (Feature Level 11\_0) or higher, and 6 GB free disk space. It supports ASIO, Core Audio, and WASAPI.
