Tracktion has luanched an update for Horizen, a versatile virtual instrument plugin compatible with Windows and Mac. Originally designed to meet the needs of composer and producer Andy Hodgson, the updated Horizen 2.5 offers enhanced sonic capabilities and an improved workflow.
Horizen 2.5 is a powerful tool for sound designers and producers, boasting a 10-voice architecture that enables the combination of 4 sample engines with 4 voice dual OSC/wavetable synths and 2 loop player engines. The resulting sounds are rich, highly detailed, and possess a depth that is rarely encountered.
In addition to its sound generation capabilities, Horizen provides several tools to add immediate movement and harmony to your sounds. It features a classic arp, a dedicated chord player, and an intuitive XY pad design. The modulation panel, which lies at the core of Horizen, allows users to select from the LFO preset menu or create their own before dragging them to designated targets around the instrument.
Horizen also provides the ability to load, play, and blend your own audio files with its Loop players. Users can drag and drop wav files directly into the Player window from anywhere, or establish their own user-defined library within the Loop Browser.
The instrument comes with over 400 presets, all designed by Andy Hodgson himself. These presets cater to a wide range of genres and production scenarios, and are organized into subgroups to facilitate easy navigation and sound location.
To run Horizen, users will need 15 GB of available disk space. The instrument is compatible with macOS 10.9.5 or later and Windows 8, 10, 11. For those interested in trying out the instrument, a 7-day unlimited free trial is available.
As an introductory offer, Tracktion is providing a 30% discount on Horizen. The expiry date for this promotion is currently unknown.
