UnitedPlugins has launched FirePreamp by FireSonic, a new preprocessing plugin designed to prepare audio signals at the start of a mix. The software combines gain management, corrective tools, and analog-style saturation within a single interface.
FirePreamp is presented as a first-stage processor for a signal chain, addressing common technical aspects such as gain staging, noise control, and tonal balance. The developer describes it as a complete preprocessing solution intended to streamline early mixing decisions and prepare recordings to integrate more effectively within a session.
The plugin combines technical utilities with analog-modeled processing. According to UnitedPlugins, FirePreamp is designed to manage both corrective and character-based adjustments in one place, reducing the need for multiple separate processors during initial setup.

The automatic gain staging is intended to help establish consistent levels throughout a session. Low-end management tools focus on controlling bass energy at the preprocessing stage. The intelligent gate uses spectral detection to focus on relevant signal content, while the saturation and transient shaping tools aim to add presence and impact where required.
FirePreamp operates with internal 64-bit audio processing and supports all standard sampling rates, including 192 kHz and higher. The plugin is designed to detect when processing is not required and can automatically enter a sleep mode, minimizing CPU usage during inactive passages.
The software relies on sidechain signal functionality. As a result, host applications that do not support sidechain routing, such as GarageBand, are not fully compatible with its intended operation.
UnitedPlugins states that FirePreamp uses a license file system for activation. It does not require iLok, hardware dongles, or continuous internet access. The license allows installation on multiple computers, provided they are used by the same registered user.
The company also provides free lifetime updates. Updates are released in accordance with changes to supported operating systems and digital audio workstations, allowing users to maintain compatibility with current production environments.
A 15-day trial version is available, offering unrestricted functionality without added noise or saving limitations during the evaluation period.
FirePreamp is available until March 31st for €12/$14, reduced from its regular price of €59/$70.
