W. A. Production has launched PsychoPan, a psychoacoustic FX plugin for macOS and Windows designed to shape spatial perception within a standard stereo signal. The plugin focuses on creating depth, elevation, and front-to-back placement using psychoacoustic processing techniques.
PsychoPan is presented as a sound-styling tool that expands conventional left and right panning into a broader two-dimensional spatial field. Drawing on approaches associated with cinema sound design, game audio, and immersive production workflows, the plugin encodes spatial cues intended to influence how listeners perceive position and distance, while remaining fully compatible with stereo playback systems.
At the core of the plugin is what W. A. Production describes as a HyperSpatial Audio Core, developed to manipulate perceptual attributes such as depth and elevation. An integrated XY pad provides hands-on control over positioning, allowing users to move sounds within a defined spatial field in real time.
Additional controls include dedicated Elevation and Pan parameters, designed to refine vertical and horizontal placement. The interface also incorporates Cinesafe Visual Guidelines, which visually indicate spatial positioning within the stereo image.
A Zone Module enables users to define and manage specific spatial areas. Complementing this is a Perceptual Distance Engine, supported by five distance sub-modules that focus on simulating varying degrees of proximity and depth. These elements are intended to assist users in shaping how near or far a sound appears within a mix.

The inclusion of a zero-latency safety limiter is intended to maintain stable output levels during processing. Global and modular bypass controls allow users to deactivate either the entire plugin or individual modules as required.
PsychoPan features a resizable interface and is designed to operate efficiently across supported systems. The plugin is available for both macOS and Windows platforms. W. A. Production has also provided factory presets to illustrate different spatial configurations and workflows, along with supporting documentation in the form of a full PDF manual and a tutorial video.
According to the developer, PsychoPan is suited to applications where spatial perception and positioning are central creative considerations, including cinematic sound design, interactive media, and immersive-oriented productions. Its design scope focuses on shaping how sounds are perceived within a stereo environment without requiring multi-channel output formats.
