W. A. Production has launched Squelcher, a bass-enhancing effects plugin for macOS and Windows. The new processor is designed to shape and reinforce low-frequency content using a combination of spectral processing, harmonic enhancement, and dynamics control.
According to the developer, Squelcher is intended to help producers refine basslines so they remain clearly defined within dense mixes. The plugin focuses on adding harmonic content, dynamic control, and tonal shaping to sub and bass elements, with a workflow aimed at modern electronic music production while remaining applicable to other genres.
At the core of Squelcher is a Spectral Digitizer designed specifically for bass-centric material. This module applies harmonic processing intended to introduce additional upper-frequency content and digital character to low-end sources. The goal is to increase perceived presence and clarity without altering the fundamental role of the bass in the mix.
The plugin also includes a Targeted Frequency Splitter, allowing users to separate and process different regions of the signal. A Bass and Treble Tilt control enables tonal balancing between low and high frequencies, offering a straightforward way to adjust overall emphasis.
Additional processing modules include:
- Sub-harmonic Bass Enhancement for reinforcing low-frequency content and improving translation on smaller speaker systems
- Treble Saturation for introducing controlled harmonic content in the upper range
- Detail Booster designed to bring forward lower-level elements within the signal
- Integrated Multiband Compressor with adjustable Tone control
Squelcher provides multiple Quality modes, allowing users to select between different processing algorithms depending on the desired sonic character and system performance requirements. The plugin is described as CPU friendly and suitable for use across multiple instances within a project.
The integrated multiband compressor is intended to manage dynamics across defined frequency ranges, helping maintain control over enhanced harmonic content and sub energy. The adjustable Tone parameter offers an additional layer of shaping within the compression stage.
For workflow considerations, Squelcher features a resizable interface and includes a collection of factory presets designed to demonstrate a range of processing approaches. A full PDF manual and accompanying tutorial video are provided to support users in understanding the plugin’s functionality.
Squelcher is available for both macOS and Windows systems.
Squelcher is currently available at an introductory price of $12 until August 6th, 2026. The regular price is $39.90.
