Zero-G has launched Other Worlds Evolved, a redesigned and expanded version of the original Other Worlds library by sound designer Adam Pietruszko, now built for Kontakt 8 using the new Orbita Engine. The instrument transforms the original cinematic sample collection into a fully integrated synthesis environment within the full version of Kontakt 8.
Other Worlds Evolved is based on a 4.6GB library containing 500 original cinematic samples created by Pietruszko. All sounds from the original release have been incorporated into the new instrument, preserving the source material while integrating it into a redesigned engine intended to expand interaction and sound shaping possibilities.
At the core of the instrument is Zero-G’s new Orbita Engine. The engine combines three sample layers with a wavetable synthesizer, enabling hybrid sound design that blends sample playback with synthesis. The included wavetable section provides 30 wavetables and a range of synthesis controls for shaping harmonic and textural content.
The instrument includes 100 professionally designed snapshot presets. These presets demonstrate a range of applications, including evolving ambient textures, spacious soundscapes, horror-inspired atmospheres, cinematic transitions, and experimental sound design. The snapshots are designed to showcase different approaches to layering, modulation, and morphing within the Orbita Engine.
Each sound source in Other Worlds Evolved features two velocity layers. Velocity values between 0 and 95 trigger one variation of a source, while values between 96 and 127 activate an alternative performance. This structure is intended to introduce tonal and textural variation depending on playing dynamics, supporting expressive performance and subtle variation within patches.
Sound design within the Orbita Engine is structured around independent layer control. Users can shape each layer with its own filtering, tuning, panning, modulation, and effects processing. The instrument also includes a Morph Pad that enables blending between four sound sources via an XY interface, allowing real-time control over tonal balance and movement.
Flexible effects routing is provided through per-layer processing, master effects, and delay and reverb sends. This structure allows detailed adjustment of spatial and tonal characteristics within a single patch.
Other Worlds Evolved is designed for cinematic and atmospheric applications, including film, television, game scoring, trailers, and contemporary music production. The instrument builds on the original library’s focus on evolving textures, ambient soundscapes, electronic layers, horror atmospheres, sci-fi effects, avant-garde elements, and modular-inspired synthesis, translating these recordings into a playable Kontakt-based instrument.
