ZERO9 has launched ZERO9 Plugins, a collection of eight audio effects designed around focused processing concepts, alongside Signal Switch, a free gain, mono and phase utility. Developed by the London-based electronic music label and production outfit, the range is available in VST3 format for Windows and macOS, with Audio Unit support for Logic Pro on macOS.
According to ZERO9 founder James Harcourt, the plugins were developed from processing chains and techniques used in the company’s own productions. Each effect is centred on a particular processing approach and uses a deliberately focused interface.
The collection covers filtering, modulation, delay, rhythmic processing, reverb and dynamics. The eight paid plugins are:
- Fusion Filter, a filter and modulation processor with five filter architectures, ranging from circuit-inspired models to digital filtering options.
- Cosmic Chorus, a dual-BBD chorus whose two sides move independently.
- Eccentric Echo, a delay with conventional and splice-and-replay Eccentricity engines that can operate in serial or parallel.
- Super Stutter, a tempo-locked loop processor for patterns of repeats, holds, reverses and pitched tape-style movement.
- Fractured Frequency, a four-stage tempo-locked glitch processor with an editable pattern grid, gate-envelope shaping and per-note reverse.
- Reactive Reverb, a reverb designed to respond to the input source and alter its space as the material changes.
- Severed Space, a reverb with a large tail designed to duck around an initial hit, bloom afterwards and be cut off when required.
- Crushing Compressor, a four-band dynamics processor offering upward and downward parallel compression.
Eccentric Echo includes independent pitch control of up to two octaves in either direction, reverse operation, stereo width and feedback settings up to 150% for each of its two engines. Its delay paths also include in-loop filtering, saturation and reverb, followed by a tape-style stage with wow, flutter and saturation controls.
Signal Switch is supplied separately as a permanently free utility. It provides gain, mono and phase controls, along with peak and maximum-level metering intended for checking signal level and stereo behaviour within a mix.
ZERO9 Plugins use offline licensing for purchased products. Licences are unlocked using a ZERO9 licence file, without machine binding or mandatory online activation. All paid plugins can also be downloaded in demo mode. Where available, an Export Mode enables higher-quality oversampling for final renders before returning to the standard mode for mixing work.
The plugins include optional tooltips for each control, including descriptions of Fusion Filter’s individual models, and ZERO9 provides a user manual for every product.
ZERO9 Plugins are available now from zero9.uk/plugins. Individual paid plugins are priced at £35, while the Complete Suite, containing all eight paid plugins under one licence, is priced at £200. Signal Switch is free. Licences are delivered automatically by email after purchase.
