ZigZagzAudio Launches Sound Soup a New Video Game Inspired Sound Design Plugin.

News: ZigZagzAudio Launches Sound Soup a New Video Game Inspired Sound Design Plugin.

ZigZagzAudio has launched Sound Soup, a video-game-inspired sound design plugin designed to function as a complete signal chain within a single interface. The plugin is available for macOS and Windows in AU and VST3 formats, with the current version updated to 1.2.0.

Sound Soup is designed to provide a consolidated environment for building layered effects chains. The plugin allows users to combine multiple processing stages into what it describes as a “soup,” enabling the creation of complex sounds within one instance. Up to three reductions can be layered, each reducing the current group of effects into a parallel sub-effect bus before further processing is applied.

This structure is intended to streamline workflow by consolidating multiple stages of sound design into a single plugin window. The interface emphasises visual interaction, allowing users to experiment with different processing combinations without focusing primarily on numerical parameter adjustments.

Among its features, Sound Soup includes:

  • Layering of up to three reduction stages into parallel sub-effect buses
  • Five unlockable secret skins
  • An additional hidden menu system integrated into the interface

The plugin is designed to support creative sound manipulation, particularly for users interested in stylised or game-inspired processing approaches. Its scope centres on rapid experimentation with layered effects inside a unified visual environment.

Version 1.2.0 introduces several updates and refinements. According to ZigZagzAudio, the following changes have been implemented:

  • Resolved distortion hum issues
  • Aligned Chicken Delay timing with the reduction layer
  • Improved font visibility in the Campfire Cooking skin
  • Adjusted upgrade text in REDACTED
  • Updated Sync Mode for Spoons to ensure full synchronisation with DAW timing, including options to change and modify LFO modulation direction

Sound Soup is currently not available for Pro Tools systems. It supports AU and VST3 formats on macOS and Windows platforms. When installed for the first time, the plugin operates in a fully functional demo mode, which includes periodic mute intervals. Users can evaluate the full feature set before activating the complete version with a purchased license code.

In addition to the current release, previous versions of Sound Soup remain available for download through the ZigZagzAudio website.

Sound Soup is currently available at 50% off through the ZigZagzAudio website. The promotion is valid until March 20th.
