Sonnox is a developer of digital audio signal processing technologies, specializing in VST, AU, and Avid AAX plug-ins for music production, live sound, broadcast, TV, and film. Its award-winning portfolio, including Claro, Voca, Drum Gate, the Oxford EQ and Dynamics, and the Oxford Inflator, provides precise, flexible control across the production chain. Innovation is guided by user needs rather than technology for its own sake, from simplifying vocal workflows to editing drums with machine learning, and supports work from the studio to the stage. In December 2022 the company joined the Focusrite Group, strengthening its ability to deliver accessible, cutting-edge tools for creators at every level.
Sonnox traces its roots to the 1980s team at Oxford Digital, formed by engineers who had previously designed mixing consoles at Solid State Logic. That team created the Oxford OXF-R3 digital mixing console, commercialized by Sony in the mid 1990s with a base price of $1 million and installed in leading studios including Real World Studios and The Hit Factory. The console’s musical sound and workflow inspired the early Sonnox plug-ins, notably the Oxford EQ and Dynamics, prompting a departure from the Sony brand and the formation of Sonnox Ltd in 2006. The company operates from Finstock in the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, approximately 50 miles outside London.
