How It Works
Built by Audio Plugin Guy, this is a practical one-page mixing reference you can keep open while you work. Your mix notes autosave locally in the browser.
EQ Frequency Reference
Click any colour band in the chart to expand a detail panel showing which instruments often live in that zone, the sonic character of the range, common EQ problems, and practical tips. These ranges are approximate engineering references, not hard boundaries. Click the active band again to collapse. Use arrow keys when a band is focused to move between zones.
Instrument Frequency Ranges
The table shows approximate working ranges for common sources on a log-scaled 20 Hz to 18 kHz axis, plus key zones and quick EQ reminders. Treat these as starting points for listening, not as fixed EQ prescriptions. The table is a practical synthesis built from published instrument-range charts and frequency-response references rather than a single canonical master chart.
Streaming Loudness Targets
This table focuses on published platform guidance and formal broadcast standards rather than unsourced target lists. Masters louder than a platform's playback target are typically turned down automatically. Click any LUFS or True Peak value to copy it to the clipboard.
Reverb Starting Points
Starting values for pre-delay, decay (RT60), and room size by source type. Pre-delay helps keep transients clear of the reverb tail, and shorter decays usually keep dense mixes cleaner. These are mix-starting suggestions, not fixed settings.
Mix Notes
A persistent notepad that autosaves to browser local storage as you type. Use it for plugin settings, reference notes, client feedback, or revision lists. Copy Notes puts the full content on your clipboard. Clear wipes it (with a confirmation).
Reference Sources
The most important frequency-range sections are based on these published references. They are still presented here as practical mixing ranges, not exact acoustical limits for every instrument, room, player, or recording chain.
