Leapwing Audio has launched CenterOne 3, a spatial processing plugin for macOS and Windows. The plugin is designed to control the phantom center of stereo signals while retaining the signal’s existing panorama, phase relationships and spectral balance.
CenterOne 3 uses Leapwing Audio’s Center Prominence technology, which the company says identifies phantom-center information within a stereo signal without relying on conventional Mid-Side processing. The processor is intended to adjust the level of centered content while leaving information unique to the left and right channels unchanged.
The plugin can be used on individual tracks, buses, stems and complete mixes. Leapwing Audio lists applications including bringing centered vocals forward, creating space in dense arrangements, managing low-frequency width, and altering the center balance of a stereo master.
Version 3 introduces EQ, multiband and sidechain functions for frequency-selective and dynamic center processing. Dedicated EQ controls can be applied independently to the Center and Left/Right components, allowing users to adjust the tonal balance of centered and side information separately.
The multiband section enables Center Prominence processing to be set independently across frequency ranges. This can be used to retain a focused low end while applying different center adjustments to higher-frequency material.
CenterOne 3 also includes external sidechain support. According to Leapwing Audio, this allows the plugin’s spatial processing to react to another signal, such as creating room around a lead vocal when it is present or dynamically changing the center balance in response to another instrument.
The plugin is available in AAX, Audio Units and VST3 formats for macOS and Windows. Leapwing Audio also provides a fully functional 30-day trial, along with a manual and a video covering the version 3 features.
Leapwing Audio is offering CenterOne 3 at an introductory 30% discount until October 22, 2026. The product page does not state a price.
