PROSOUND has launched AudioScout 2.0, a local-first sound-effects library manager for macOS. The application is designed for sound designers, podcast editors and post-production professionals working with sound-effect libraries stored on their own computers or external drives.
AudioScout indexes existing SFX folders and can search filenames, folder context and supported embedded metadata. Version 2.0 introduces Smart Search, Find Similar, Favorites, Collections and Watch Folders for organising and locating material within a library.
The software also provides one-key delivery to supported workflows in Pro Tools, REAPER, Nuendo and Cubase. AudioScout is intended to keep local sound libraries on the user’s computer or connected external storage rather than requiring a cloud-based library.
AudioScout 2.0 includes Video Spotter as an optional extension. The extension allows users to load a video, manually place sound-effect cues at specific timecodes, select effects from their own libraries, and deliver timed material through compatible audio-post workflows.
AudioScout 2.0 requires macOS 13 or later and an Apple Silicon Mac, including M1-based systems or newer. PROSOUND currently provides AudioScout Core 1.1 for Windows 10 and Windows 11 users.
AudioScout Core 2.0 is available as a USD 10 one-time licence. Video Spotter is a separate USD 10 lifetime add-on that requires Core 2.0. Existing Core customers can receive the macOS 2.0 Core update through their original purchase, and PROSOUND states that no recurring subscription is required.
