Bunker Samples has launched Viola-Moto, a new instrument library for Audiomodern’s free Soundbox sampler. Designed around energetic short articulations, the library focuses on delivering drive and motion for accompaniment parts and lead lines.
Viola-Moto is built specifically for Soundbox, a free sampler platform available for Windows, macOS, Linux, and iPad. The library centres on short viola articulations intended to support rhythmic passages and agile melodic writing across a range of musical contexts.
The collection includes crisp spiccato articulations suited to fast and energetic lines, alongside feathered shorts designed for slower and more restrained passages. According to Bunker Samples, all material is derived from live performances in order to preserve natural musical energy and movement within each note.
A key feature of Viola-Moto is its use of true up-bow and down-bow round robins, aimed at maintaining realistic bowing variation. The sampling structure includes:
- Staccatos with 5 velocity layers and 8 round robins
- Feathered shorts with 4 velocity layers and 5 round robins
- True up-bow and down-bow round robins
In total, the library contains 1,260 samples and is delivered in two formats: a 619 MB standard version and a 260 MB FLAC-compressed version. It includes two patches within Soundbox.
Viola-Moto is designed to integrate with Soundbox’s built-in arpeggiator, enabling users to generate rhythmic and melodic patterns directly within the sampler. The pairing is intended to support idea generation and flexible performance workflows inside the Soundbox environment.
Soundbox itself is provided free of charge by Audiomodern and serves as the required host for the library.
Viola-Moto is available at an introductory price of $19 until May 15, reduced from its regular price of $39.
