E-instruments has launched Velvet Guitars Fragment, a free Kontakt Player library based on a single preset from its Velvet Guitars collection. The library provides the Mellow Baritone preset, featuring sampled baritone guitar performances, amplifier recordings, spring reverb, and performance articulations.
Velvet Guitars Fragment is centred on a baritone guitar tuned a fifth below standard guitar tuning. According to E-instruments, the instrument is designed to extend into lower registers while retaining note definition.
The included preset provides sustain and mute articulations, alongside a dedicated legato mode and dead-note articulations. These options can be used for low-register lines, mid-range chord parts, and melodic performances higher on the instrument’s range.
Samples were recorded through two vintage amplifiers, each providing a separate tonal character. Every sample was captured four times: dry, and with spring reverb through each amplifier. The library also includes a recreation of a US 1960s-style tremolo effect.
Velvet Guitars Fragment requires Native Instruments Kontakt 8.5.1 or later, or the free Kontakt Player, and supports Native Instruments NKS 2 integration. The download is 5.82 GB and uses 24-bit, 48 kHz audio.
- macOS: macOS 13 or later on Intel i5-or-higher Macs, or Apple Silicon Macs via Rosetta 2 and natively in standalone operation or supported hosts.
- Windows: Windows 10 or 11 with the latest service pack, an Intel Core i5 or equivalent processor, and Direct3D 11.1 Feature Level 11_0 graphics support or higher.
- Formats: standalone, VST3, AU, and AAX on macOS; standalone, VST3, and AAX on Windows. The library requires 4 GB RAM, with 8 GB recommended for larger Kontakt instruments.
To obtain the library, users add it to the E-instruments shopping cart, complete checkout using a new or existing E-instruments account, and receive a serial number and installation-guide link by email.
