Audiority has launched Chief Flanger, a vintage dual-mode flanger plugin for Windows and macOS. The new effect is designed to recreate the character of classic analog flanging while offering extended control options for modern production environments.
Chief Flanger is inspired by two well-known analog units, the Boss BF-2 Flanger and the HF-2 Hi-Band Flanger. According to Audiority, the plugin brings together traditional full-range flanging and a high-band focused mode, providing users with two distinct modulation approaches within a single interface.
The plugin is based on a BBD analog flanger simulation and operates in Dual-Mode, offering Classic and Hi-Band options. The Classic mode is intended to deliver the familiar wide-spectrum modulation associated with vintage flanging effects, while the Hi-Band mode focuses processing on higher frequencies for a more selective modulation response.
Chief Flanger includes the following main features:

- Stereo Spread control
- Blend control
- Dedicated Circuit Trimmers section for adjusting Depth, Rate, Feedback, and Clock ranges

The dedicated Trimmers section allows users to fine-tune internal parameters such as modulation depth range, feedback behavior, and clock characteristics. This design provides access to circuit-level style adjustments while maintaining a streamlined front panel workflow.
Chief Flanger supports stereo processing and includes a Spread parameter for managing the stereo field. Tempo Sync enables synchronization of the modulation rate to the host DAW. The plugin also supports MIDI mapping for integration into performance and automation setups.
The initial release was made in March 2026. The latest version, v1.0.1 released in April 2026, addresses several issues, including:
- Spread resetting when the transport is restarted
- Spread not functioning on mono-to-stereo tracks
- Incorrect online manual URL
Chief Flanger is available for Windows and macOS in 64-bit formats. Windows system requirements include Windows 7 64-bit or later, an Intel i7 processor or higher, 2 GB of RAM, and a minimum screen resolution of 1024×768. Supported plugin formats include CLAP, VST3 64-bit, and AAX 64-bit for Pro Tools 11 or higher.
On macOS, both Intel and Apple Silicon systems are supported, with corresponding native compatibility. The plugin can be downloaded as a demo version with certain limitations.

Chief Flanger is priced at €29.00 during the introductory promotion, reduced from the regular price of €49.00. The 40% introductory offer is valid until May 4th.
