Audiofier releases Overflow layered cinematic sound design instrument for Kontakt.

News: Audiofier releases Overflow layered cinematic sound design instrument for Kontakt.

Audiofier has launched Overflow, a cinematic sound-design instrument for Kontakt. The instrument combines organic recorded sources with processed layers, designed to create evolving textures, drones, particles, and other playable hybrid sounds.

Overflow is structured around a main sound layer and two processed companion layers. Users can blend and reshape these elements through controls for tuning, panning, filtering, randomisation, and other playback parameters.

The instrument includes 113 multi-sampled sound sources, organised as 32 main instruments and 81 processed Longs, Echoes, and Shorts. Audiofier describes the source material as drawing on organic sounds alongside processed echoes, unstable textures, and evolving movement.

The three processed material collections are intended for different types of sound behaviour:

  • Longs provide sustained and evolving transformations.
  • Echoes introduce repeated movement and textural tails.
  • Shorts contain transient material, fractured details, and short gestures.

Overflow includes a randomisation function that can generate new combinations of source material, processing layers, movement, playback behaviour, sends, and effects. The feature is designed to provide changing starting points while retaining the instrument’s layered structure.

For more detailed editing, the Advanced page provides direct access to layer selection, sample start position and length, playback probability, voice limiting, pan motion, release, filtering, reverb, delay, and modulation. Layers may also be selected individually rather than through randomised combinations.

Audiofier positions Overflow for composers and sound designers working with expressive textures and organic, processed detail. Its sound palette is designed to cover quieter ambient material as well as more tense cinematic sound-design applications.

Overflow is available from the Audiofier website for $79, with an introductory price of $69.
