AudioSwift has released AudioSwift 3, software that turns a Mac trackpad into a MIDI controller for macOS 14 Sonoma and up.

News: AudioSwift has released AudioSwift 3, software that turns a Mac trackpad into a MIDI controller for macOS 14 Sonoma and up.

AudioSwift has launched AudioSwift 3, a macOS application that uses a Mac trackpad as a MIDI controller. Developed by AudioSwift, version 3 requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later and is listed as compatible with macOS 27 Golden Gate.

The update redesigns Trigger Mode, adding articulation options for strums, arpeggios, and free playing. These include controls for tilt, velocity and timing humanisation, and push/pull timing.

AudioSwift 3 also adds XY expression functions, including per-finger MIDI CC, pitch bend, and pressure control. The application provides first- and last-finger priority settings, adjacent-chord sliding, and global sustain and aftertouch options.

Chord features in Trigger Mode include expanded voicings, dedicated bass notes, a Guitar Mode, and genre-based Chord Sets. The interface supports 24 pads per view and up to 80 pads in total, with seven notes per pad, undo and redo functions, and colour highlights.

Slider Mode now provides 16 sliders. AudioSwift has also included custom Ableton Live Control Scripts for Slider Mode and Mixer Mode.

Additional version 3 functions include:

  • A four-pad XY View with 14-bit MIDI support and a Surround Panner for Pro Tools and Logic.
  • Touch Control, which uses the amount of skin surface contacting the trackpad to send MIDI CC or Channel Pressure data.
  • Support intended to keep plugin windows open when working in Ableton Live, Cubase, Bitwig Studio, and Studio One, now called Fender Studio Pro.
  • Mixer functions for Digital Performer, LUNA, and Fender Studio Pro, with snapshots recalled using the number keys 1 through 0.

AudioSwift 3 is designed for musicians and producers who want to use trackpad gestures for MIDI note triggering, expression, mixing, control-surface functions, and surround panning within supported DAWs.

AudioSwift 3 is a free update for AudioSwift version 1 and version 2 users. For new users, it is available for $27.99 rather than $39.99, with the stated 30% discount available until October 31.
