Titanscore has released Ostinato plugin that generates cinematic ostinatos over specified chords.

News: Titanscore has released Ostinato plugin that generates cinematic ostinatos over specified chords.

Titanscore has launched Ostinato, a MIDI-generating plugin designed to create cinematic ostinato patterns from user-supplied chord progressions. The plugin produces three coordinated voices, covering low, middle and high registers, and can export the resulting material as MIDI for use in a DAW.

Ostinato accepts chord clips dragged in from a DAW, with its generated patterns following the supplied harmony bar by bar. Users can also create a chord progression within the plugin by selecting a key and starting root note.

The plugin includes a Read Chords function that analyses a progression while the DAW is playing. According to Titanscore, this feature is compatible with FL Studio and Logic Pro and can read chords that have not been quantised.

Patterns are selected from a library through a Generate control. Users can filter generation using movement, direction, width and figure parameters:

  • Movement: Calm, Flowing, Driving and Racing
  • Direction: Rising, Falling, Arc and Circling
  • Width: Narrow, Medium and Wide
  • Figure: Cross and Pulse

The generated arrangement is divided into Low, Mid and High voices. Each voice has separate level, mute and solo controls. Muted voices are excluded when the pattern is exported.

An integrated piano-roll editor allows users to move, draw and erase notes, as well as adjust note velocity. Its Chord Tones display identifies notes that correspond with the entered chord progression.

Ostinato does not produce audio internally. Instead, it sends MIDI to an instrument on the following track, allowing users to audition patterns with their own piano, string or synthesizer instruments before exporting them. Patterns can be dragged into a DAW as standard MIDI, and the source chords may also be exported as a separate clip.

The plugin includes composer-selected presets and supports user-created preset folders. Titanscore states that Ostinato is intended for trailer music, epic and action cues, game music, and tension-building parts beneath a melody.

Ostinato is priced at $89, with an introductory price of $69 for a limited time.
