Lofi Sounds has launched UNUA, a sampled piano instrument designed for lofi music production. The instrument is based on recordings of a C. Bechstein Residence Millennium 116 K piano made in Vienna using its felt action.
UNUA is intended to provide a soft, mellow piano sound for lofi arrangements, including melodic parts, chord layers, and slower-paced productions. Lofi Sounds describes the instrument as having an intimate, human character, with a sound designed to remain gentle across its playing range.
The library includes two recorded sample sets, named Mono and Wide. Both sets cover seven octaves and use three velocity layers and three round robins, providing alternate samples for repeated notes.
Lofi Sounds states that UNUA was created to offer a piano sound that can be used without extensive parameter adjustment. The developer recorded the instrument exclusively with felt action, with the stated aim of retaining a soft response even at higher playing velocities.
UNUA is available for macOS 11 Big Sur or later on Apple Silicon and Intel systems, and for 64-bit Windows 10 or later. It can run in VST3 or Audio Unit hosts, and a standalone version is also included. Lofi Sounds says lifetime updates are provided.
UNUA is available for $51.
