Audio Modeling has launched SWAM VariFlute, the first release in its new Discovery line, for Mac and Windows. The plugin uses physical modeling to generate flute sounds by simulating the physics of airflow and resonance.
SWAM VariFlute draws on over a decade of research in physical modeling. Instead of relying on sampled recordings, it produces sound in real time based on adjustable parameters. Users can customize instrument characteristics such as size, material, and bore design, allowing them to recreate traditional flutes or explore new variations.
The plugin supports the following operating systems and formats:
- macOS 10.13 to 15
- Windows 10 and 11
- Standalone, Audio Units, VST, VST3, AAX 64-bit, and NKS (VST3 only)
Core features include:
- Adjustable physical parameters for flute design
- Continuous dynamic response and expressive control
- Accessibility features for blind and visually impaired musicians
A 15-day trial is available on the Audio Modeling website. All current and new SWAM Flutes owners receive SWAM VariFlute at no extra cost. New customers adding either SWAM Flutes or the SWAM Solo Woodwinds Bundle to their cart will have VariFlute applied automatically during checkout.
The plugin is also available on the App Store for iPad and iPhone, enabling mobile use of the instrument.
Purchase options and additional details can be found on the Audio Modeling website.
SWAM VariFlute is priced at 199 EUR/USD. An introductory 80% discount is available for a limited time.
