Cableguys has launched TimeStop, a creative tape-stop plugin for Windows and macOS. The plugin is designed to let producers create slowdown effects by drawing automation directly in a DAW.
TimeStop centres on a fully automatable Pitch control, allowing users to shape the duration and curve of a slowdown without using separate timing controls. Cableguys states that the approach is intended to support tape-stop effects tailored to a track’s arrangement, including processing on vocals, drums, synthesizers and master buses.
The plugin includes three timing modes:
- Classic links pitch and time reduction for a tape or vinyl-style slowdown.
- Modern lowers pitch while maintaining the timing of the source material, intended for uses where drum and vocal timing remains unchanged.
- Loop combines the tape-stop effect with stuttering for fills and transitions.
According to Cableguys, TimeStop is designed for creating stops, pitch drops and loop-based fills through visual automation within a host DAW. It is available as an instant download and includes a fully functional trial version.
On Windows, TimeStop requires Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11 in 64-bit form and a VST3- or AAX-compatible DAW. On macOS, it requires macOS 10.15 or later, runs on Intel and Apple Silicon systems, and supports VST3, AU and AAX hosts. Compatible applications include Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, Bitwig Studio, FL Studio, REAPER and Studio One, along with other compatible hosts.
Cableguys has also begun a Black Friday sale covering ShaperBox 3, the Cableguys Bundle, VolumeShaper, Snapback, FilterShaper XL and MidiShaper. The Cableguys Bundle includes ShaperBox 3, TimeStop, Snapback, FilterShaper XL, Curve 2, HalfTime and MidiShaper. Discounted upgrade options are also available for eligible customers.
TimeStop is priced at €16 / $14, or €9 / $9 for Cableguys Bundle owners through the company’s upgrade programme. During Cableguys’ Black Friday sale, ShaperBox 3 Bundle is listed at $89, Cableguys Bundle at $149, VolumeShaper at $19, Snapback at $29, FilterShaper XL at $49, and MidiShaper at $29.
