Odd Duck Audio has launched Specimen 23, a channel strip plugin that combines drive, filtering, gating, equalisation and compression in a single interface. The plugin allows users to arrange its processing sections in a chosen order by dragging them within the signal chain.
Specimen 23 is designed to provide zero-latency processing and is intended for use across multiple tracks within a session. Each processing section includes an individual IN button, and new plugin instances begin with all sections bypassed.
The drive section includes three stages: a soft input transformer, a line amplifier operated at higher gain, and a third stage intended to produce console-style breakup. The remaining modules provide filter, gate, EQ and compressor processing.
The plugin is available in VST3, CLAP, LV2 and standalone formats for 64-bit Windows, macOS 11 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel systems, and 64-bit Linux. AU support is also available for macOS.
Specimen 23 is priced at $15 and includes a seven-day free trial with access to the full plugin. Odd Duck Audio also provides a browser-based demo on the product page.
