Pine DSP releases Blox Rack modular rack plugin with horizontal EQ and modulation.

News: Pine DSP releases Blox Rack modular rack plugin with horizontal EQ and modulation.

Pine DSP has launched Blox Rack, a modular effects rack plugin designed around a 500-series-style workflow. The plugin combines six processing modules with a horizontal top panel for detailed EQ, modulation and ducking controls.

Blox Rack includes EQ, Compressor, Chorus, Reverb, Delay and Exciter modules. Each effect is also supplied as an individual plugin for Blox Rack licence holders, allowing the processors to be loaded separately in a DAW.

The rack interface provides a context-sensitive horizontal panel intended for tasks that benefit from a wider view, including EQ band editing, spectrum display, modulation setup and precision ducking. The Blox EQ module can be controlled from this upper panel, with keyboard modifiers for Q adjustment and band solo functions.

Modulation sources include four LFOs, an envelope follower and an XY pad. These sources can be routed to controls throughout the plugin. Blox Rack also provides six macros, while its included presets are pre-mapped to selected macro controls.

The EQ offers high-pass, low-pass, shelving, notch, band-pass and bell filter types. Individual bands can operate in stereo, mid or side modes.

The Compressor includes Smooth, Punch and Clamp modes. Smooth is intended for transparent compression, while Punch and Clamp provide alternative response characteristics. The module also includes sidechain input, sidechain high-pass filtering and a knee control for adjusting the curve around the threshold.

The Chorus is a three-stage effect with Spread, Tone, Character, Rate and Depth controls. Its presets cover chorus-based processing ranging from flange-style settings to more pronounced modulation.

The Reverb provides Size, Decay, Damp, Tone, Pre-Delay and Modulation controls, along with a Freeze function. Its Duck control reduces the wet signal when new dry audio is present. The advanced upper panel includes controls for ducking depth, threshold, attack and release, as well as a spectrogram.

The Delay offers Normal, Ping Pong and Diffuse modes, plus a Wash mode for changing diffuse repeats over time. Delay times can be synchronised to host tempo. Its ducking section includes threshold, depth, attack and release controls in the top panel.

The Exciter includes Reel, Glass and Ember distortion modes, plus an Air control for high-frequency emphasis. Reel mode adds Hysteresis and Bias controls for tape-character processing.

Blox Rack ships with 500 presets covering creative processing and conventional mixing applications.

Blox Rack is priced at $79, with an introductory price of $49. Owners of previous Pine DSP Blox plugins are eligible for an additional discount.
