W. A. Production has launched InstaComposer 4, a MIDI generation plugin for macOS and Windows. The update introduces MIDI Engine 2.0, additional generation modes, built-in instruments, and expanded composition and routing tools for creating melodies, riffs, rhythms, chord progressions, and complete song arrangements.
InstaComposer 4 is designed to generate MIDI material across multiple musical roles, including chords, phrases, melodies, bass lines, riffs, and rhythmic parts. According to W. A. Production, the revised MIDI Engine 2.0 updates the plugin’s handling of rhythm, timing, phrasing, pitch selection, and harmonic relationships across its generation modes.
The plugin can generate a full song arrangement with one command, supporting up to six tracks at once and up to eight scenes. Timeline playback and song navigation are included for working through arrangements, while multi-track and multi-channel MIDI routing allow generated material to be sent to other instruments and destinations in a host DAW.
New generation options include Arpeggiator and Rhythm V2 modes. InstaComposer 4 also adds Foliage controls for developing more detailed melody patterns, alongside advanced Groove controls. Probability, complexity, variation, humanised timing, and velocity settings are available to adjust the generated MIDI output.
The release includes built-in acoustic piano and General MIDI instruments for auditioning generated parts. Users can also load SoundFont SF2 instruments. An integrated mixer provides level control along with reverb and delay effects.
Additional composition tools include chord and scale analysis, automatic chord progression generation with support for slash chords, MIDI editing, MIDI import, and drag-and-drop MIDI export. Factory presets are included, with compatibility for presets from InstaComposer versions 1, 2, and 3. W. A. Production also provides a PDF manual and tutorial video for the plugin.
InstaComposer 4 is available at an introductory price of $29.90 until November 5, 2026. The stated regular price is $129.
