XILS-lab Releases Version 2.0 of XILS DeeS De-esser Plugin.

News: XILS-lab Releases Version 2.0 of XILS DeeS De-esser Plugin.

XILS-lab has released version 2.0 of the XILS DeeS de-esser plugin, now available for both Windows and Mac users. This update introduces several enhancements aimed at improving the user experience and audio processing capabilities of the plugin.

The XILS DeeS plugin is designed to manage sibilance in audio recordings, offering a straightforward interface that includes a clear signal path and a real-time frequency graph. This tool is particularly useful for removing unwanted signals, adapting vocal characteristics to fit specific projects, or creating unique audio effects. The plugin operates with complete transparency and speed, preserving the dynamic range of the incoming audio signal.

Key Features

  • Transparent Processing: The plugin avoids the filter sweep effect common in similar tools, ensuring natural-sounding results.
  • Fast Detection: The detection process is swift, maintaining the liveliness of the voice without making it sound lifeless.
  • Input Independent Detection: This feature helps retain the full dynamic range of the audio.
  • Plosive Detection and EQ: Enhances recognition and processing of plosive sounds.
  • Three Independent EQ Paths: Allows for extensive customization of vocal characteristics using analog-like 0-delay-feedback filters.

The architecture of the XILS DeeS plugin involves splitting the incoming signal into three separate channels: the voice minus sibilants, and the plosives and sibilants only. Each channel is equipped with its own equalizer, providing users with precise control over the audio processing. The detection module assists in identifying the correct frequency range for processing sibilants and allows users to adjust the speed and quality of the de-essing process.

Deessing Module

  • Select the cutoff frequency between voices and sibilants.
  • Adjust the reduction amount and de-essing quality.
  • Fine-tune plosive detection for improved sibilant recognition.

Sibilant and Voice Paths

The sibilant path offers various filter types, including Low Pass and High-Shelf, with adjustable cutoff frequency, resonance, and gain. Users can isolate and listen to equalized sibilants using the SOLO button. Similarly, the voice path allows for equalization without a specific level control, and users can also solo the equalized voices.

The XILS DeeS plugin is currently available for download from the XILS-lab website. It is compatible with Mac OSX 10.13 and later (64-bit Intel & Apple Silicon) and Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11 (64-bit). Supported formats include VST2.4, VST3, Audio Unit, and AAX (native).

*The plugin is on sale for 34.99 €, reduced from its original price of 99 €, with the promotional offer valid until June 30th.*
